Joschka Gerigk is a doctoral student at the Chair of Economics. His main interest is the application of economic theory to real world problems, in particular to environmental issues.

Joschka first studied economics at Humboldt University in Berlin and at the University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA). He graduated from Humboldt University with a M.Sc. degree in Economics and Management. His thesis modeled the potential impact of a carbon price on companies’ profits. After gaining some job experience in the private sector (PricewaterhouseCoopers) as well as in public institutions (City of Berlin, Germany’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations, The World Bank), where he increasingly focused on environmental issues, he decided to go back to university. Before joining ETH as a research assistant in September 2011, he spent one year at the Toulouse School of Economics. From there, he graduated with a M.Sc. degree in Economics of the Environment and Natural Resources with his thesis focusing on economic impacts of climate change in Vietnam.
