Research projects

As part of the Institute for Environmental Decisions at ETH Zurich, the Chair for economic research focuses on research in microeconomics. The Chair mainly investigates questions in the field of environmental economics and decisions under risk. While the working group on risk attitudes and behavior primarily focuses on experimental methods, the research in environmental economics concentrates mainly on the analysis of current environmental policy institutions and scientific policy advice (see also: » http://www.off4firms.com).

Teaching

The teaching schedule of Prof Schubert and her team is based on lectures and seminars in micro- and macroeconomics at an introductory level. To support conventional didactic devices, an interactive electronic learning environment is offered to the students via the World Wide Web. This facility is also available for courses in environmental economics and is currently under construction for courses in development economics and energyeconomics.

In a Ph.-D.-level seminar the economic theory of risk is applied to specific risk-related tasks in connection with engineering projects or problems in natural sciences. Further interdisciplinary projects are conducted in partnership with the ETH Chemistry Department. These interdisciplinary courses, of which an even greater variety shall be offered in the near future, will be of special importance regarding the Master Programs at ETH.

Institute for Environmental Decisions IED
